Test and Tune:

Finally we get to hear the rumble of power again. It has been a long winter. Unfortunately, this wouldn't last long. I got to the track at about 2:10pm, 10 minutes after test and tune got started. By then, the track was already a dust bowl. In talking with Clint Potter, he advised me just to go out and make sure everything on the car was in working order. The track was so dry and slick that I really wouldn't be able to test any setups. So I fired 'er up and got in line to get on the track. After about a half hour of waiting in line, I finally was able to get on the track. At first the car was spitting and sputtering for about the first half lap and then it cleared up and took off. She felt pretty healthy! Although I couldn't really tell because there wasn't any traction to get the car hooked up. After my 2 whole laps, I brought the car back to the pits and checked it over. Nothing had fallen off and nothing had broken! This is a good start. I did have to adjust the idle mixture screws on the carburator to fix the problem of "loading up" and running rough when I first take off.

I then get back in line and wait about 20 more minutes to get back on the track. I was 4 cars from getting back on the track when the whole thing was called off due to a tornado about 20 miles south of the track! It was kind of a quick scramble for everyone to get loaded up and get out of there! Fortunately the tornado stayed away and no one was injured.

I didn't really learn anything other than everything is in working order. Let's go racing!!!
